Important Information about your visit to Vale Healthcare
If you are visiting Vale Healthcare's Cardiff Bay Clinic either as a patient or a visitor/carer, please read the following information carefully to ensure your visit is a comfortable as possible.
If you are attending a consultation at the Cardiff Bay Clinic, an information leaflet will also be sent out to you in the post with details of your appointment and any additional information specific to your treatment.
Visitors and carers
Vale Healthcare welcomes patient visitors to the clinic and into your consultation if you so wish. There are also comfortable waiting areas with free Wi-fi internet connection, and an on-site coffee shop for patients and visitors.
Paediatric Patient age restrictions
The Cardiff Bay Clinic is registered to treat patients of the following age:
- 3 years plus for Consultation
- 3 years plus for Diagnostics
- 16 years plus for Theatre
- 12 years plus for Physiotherapy at Cardiff Bay Clinic, Under 12’s can be seen at the Vale Physiotherapy Clinic, in Hensol.
NB *The only exception to this is for the Baby Hip Clinic. Consultants treating in this clinic under 3’s are permitted and this includes hip ultrasound.
Car parking
The Cardiff Bay Clinic has plenty of on-site parking available, which is free of charge to our patients and visitors.
Infection Prevention
Vale Healthcare regards infection prevention as paramount, and asks all patients, visitors and staff to assist us in achieving this. Effective hand hygiene is important to prevent the spread of infection and we have alcohol gel dispensers throughout the clinic for the use of visitors and patients.
Please let a member of staff know if you are concerned about cleanliness in the clinic.
Pets
The only animals allowed in the Clinic are guide dogs.
Smoking
Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises, including the car park.
Taking home your medication
Should you require any medication as part of your care you will be issued with a private prescription from your Consultant. This can be taken to any community pharmacy but be aware the pharmacy will apply charges unless you are exempt from payment.
Going home
In addition to information provided by your Consultant, a nurse or clinical specialist may give you information and guidelines in relation to your after-care. If you require any more information, please do not hesitate to ask, even after you have left the clinic.
Depending on the complexity of any treatment or procedure you have, it is advisable that you are accompanied on admission and discharge home.
Please note that the Cardiff Bay Clinic does not have overnight stay facilities.
