Mr Stephen Jones

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon - Hip specialist

As a specialist hip surgeon my practice involves purely the assessment and management of all aspects of hip pathology. I provide a comprehensive service from the management of sports and soft tissue hip injuries through to joint preserving hip surgery (hip arthroscopy & hip impingement surgery), conservative hip replacement (hip resurfacing & short stem hip replacement) together with a large volume practice in primary and revision hip replacement.

I qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff,  in 1995. My orthopaedic and trauma training was on the All Wales Higher Training Programme. My hip specialist training has been an accumulation of fellowships in the UK together with clinical visits throughout Europe and North America. This education continues with regular attendance both as a delegate and faculty member at national and international hip meetings. Most recently this has included instructional presentations by myself at the London Hip Meeting, European Hip Meeting and International Hip Resurfacing Meeting in the USA.

I am an active member of the British Hip Society. In addition to my surgical qualifications I hold an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering that has enabled me the knowledge and understanding to become closely involved with hip implant development and evaluation. My particular area of research interest is the management of hip instability, the use of large diameter metal bearings, outcome measurement and improvement in hip arthroplasty.

I am a keen educator and have a regular teaching commitment on both University and Royal College of Surgeons courses.

I look forward to meeting you,

Stephen Jones
