Our Treatments

Interventional Procedures

These are some but not all procedures carried out by the clinics Dermatology surgeons.

Acne Treatment

You may have acne or it has gone but the scars remain. Specialist treatment can dramatically improve your appearance. Our consultant dermatologist will assess your acne and guide you to the right treatment for your skin.

Wart and Verruca Treatment

Warts or varuccas are troublesome skin conditions notoriously difficult to treat using traditional methods. We can offer various treatments, including PDT, laser therapy, cryotherapy. Cryotherapy works by freezing the targeted area and is a simple and quick treatment. Which method is most effective depends on the severity and nature of the warts being treated.

Botulinum Toxin

For facial wrinkles, botox causes a temporary localised paralysis of the facial muscles, that cause frown lines and those that cause 'crows feet' when you smile. The injections are placed across your forehead and at the temples. It is best to go for a subtle, natural effect and gradually build on this to suit your requirements. The injections are repeated at 4-6 month intervals.

You will have a consultation with our consultant dermatologist, who will explain the procedure and discuss the pros and cons of the treatment. You can then take time to consider the advice and information before booking a treatment.

Most people find the injections quite tolerable as the needle used is very fine and the area is numbed with an ice cube immediately before treatment. You can return to work on the same day although there may be some local tenderness from the injections. The smoothing effect gradually develops over the next week or two.

Mole Removal

If you have concerns about a mole or other skin lesion we can give you instant, expert help. Our consultant dermatologist, will assess your mole and often only reassurance and observation is required. If necessary he will use laser technology or remove the mole with minimal discomfort and a barley detectable scar.

Sclerotherapy

This is a method of treating varicose veins or spider veins, most commonly found on the leg. A harmless sclerosing solution is injected through a micro-needle into the veins. The solution displaces the blood and causes the vein to fade from view. The procedure is surprisingly painless.

Rosacea

In some cases, rosacea can be reduced through the use of medication or creams. Alternatively, laser therapy or sclerotherapy can be effective methods of treating this common condition. Our consultant dermatologist, will assess your rosacea and advise on appropriate treatment.

Skin Cancer Treatment

Although skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK, there are effective methods of treatment available. The most important thing about skin cancers is that they are caught early. The choice of treatment depends on the size of the lesion, type and whether it is a primary or recurrent lesion. Our consultant dermatologist, will assess your skin and advise of the most appropriate course of action.

Facial Vessels (Facial Thread Veins)

Thread veins on the face can be a source of embarrassment but are relatively easy to treat without the need for surgery. At Vale Healthcare we have access to Wales' only Long Pulsed Alexandrite medical laser which is generally regarded as the most effective laser for hair removal. In some patients, treatments can be funded on the NHS and we can advise on how to proceed.
